Fund the Arts, Not the Cake

What is Fund the Art, Not the Cake?

It’s a simple idea.

This year Diverse City is turning 20. Instead of celebrating alone, we’re inviting people to be part of what comes next.

If you’ve got a birthday, celebration or special moment coming up, you can ask for donations instead of gifts.

Ask your friends and family to support Diverse City to get more people into the performing arts.

We’ll give you a link, some words and a few simple assets — and you share it with your people.

How It Works

Step 1 — Get your link

Email Georgie our Development Manager at georgie@diversecity.org.uk, and we’ll send you a ready-made donation link for your birthday fundraiser. No need to build anything from scratch.

Step 2 — Share it your way

Send it to friends and family by message, email or social media. You can use our suggested wording, or make it your own.

Step 3 — Celebrate differently

Instead of gifts, people donate to Diverse City. It’s simple, personal, and it makes a real difference

Got a birthday coming up? Make it count for something more.

Turn your celebration into something that gives back.
Need help with the words?
We’ll make it easy.
You can keep it really simple.

Example message:

“For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to Diverse City instead of gifts. They support artists and help build a more inclusive performing arts sector. If you’d like to give, I’d really appreciate it.”
